Dermapen, in other words, the microneedling method, is a technique that we dermatology specialists use for treatment purposes in many different areas. The micro-damage caused by fine micro-needles on the skin attracts various "collagen stimulators" such as wound healing factors and growth factors to the damaged area, enabling local tissue repair, collagen synthesis, and the restoration of the damaged collagen structure. Collagen is the protein structure that plays the most important role in making the skin appear firm, youthful, and smooth. In areas where wounds, burns, surgical or acne scars have formed, the collagen structure is irregular and damaged. With this method, which directly affects the collagen structure, a sort of "reconstruction" is created in the treated skin area. In this way, both the repair of the damaged tissue and a very significant anti-aging effect are achieved. Furthermore, the tiny micro-channels opened by the micro-needles allow the active ingredients required for the treatment to penetrate beneath the skin in the same session. In microneedling, a dermaroller, which is a cylinder with micro-needles at the end that is rolled over the skin, can be used; however, the most effective method is the use of a powered device called Dermapen, in which the frequency and depth levels to be applied are standardized. In this electric microneedling method, needle depths can be adjusted between 0.5 and 2.5 mm according to the treatment protocol needed by the skin. Compared to the dermaroller, Dermapen allows for deeper penetration with less surface damage to the skin, making it possible to achieve much more effective results.
In what cases is Dermapen used?
- Acne scars (acne scars, acne scars)
- Treatment of fine lines
- Treatment of large pores
- Correction of loss of skin elasticity
- Treatment of cracks (striae),
- Skin rejuvenation (skin renewal, skin rejuvenation)
- In regional skin loosening (neck, décolleté, inner arms, etc.)
- Combined with mesotherapy or PRP treatment for hair loss treatment
How is Dermapen applied?
Before the procedure, local anesthetic cream is applied to the area to be applied and the area is numbed so that the needle entries are painless. The numbing period is approximately 20 minutes and the procedure takes about 15 minutes. A special sterile head is used during the procedure. During the procedure, anti-aging, collagen stimulating serums containing chyloronic acid, peptides or vitamins or active ingredients used in blemish treatment are applied to the skin and left for a while to penetrate under the skin through the micro channels opened. After the procedure, soothing creams and sunscreens are applied to the skin. Dryness and redness may occur for a few days after the procedure, but the person can easily return to their social life and work.
How many sessions of Dermapen are applied?
Depending on the skin problem and skin structure, Dermapen application can be applied in 3-6 sessions at two-week intervals.
