Short answer
A non-surgical facelift covers methods that improve mild to moderate sagging without incisions or general anaesthesia. HIFU tightens tissue with ultrasound heat, a thread lift raises it with dissolvable threads, and a liquid facelift restores lost volume with fillers and skin quality injections. In Denizli, Dr. Tuba Çelebi Kayhan chooses the method by the cause of the sagging.
At a glance
| HIFU | Tightening with ultrasound; one session, results build over months |
|---|---|
| Thread lift | Lifting with dissolvable threads; the lift lasts 12-18 months on average |
| Liquid facelift | Volume support with fillers and skin quality injections |
| The limit | With marked excess skin, surgery is discussed |
Facial sagging is not the result of a single change. The skin loses elasticity, the connective tissue that supports the face loosens, and the fat and bone support in the cheeks and temples diminishes. Non-surgical methods respond to different ones among these changes, so the right choice starts with understanding which layer the sagging you see in the mirror comes from.
At our clinic we discuss three routes to non-surgical lifting: HIFU treatment in Denizli, which tightens tissue with heat; a thread lift, which raises tissue mechanically; and injections, which replace lost volume. None of the three needs an incision, but they do not give the same result.
Who Is a Non-Surgical Facelift Realistic For?
The clearest response is seen in people with mild to moderate sagging whose skin still keeps its elasticity. A slightly blurred jawline, cheeks that have dropped a little, brows that are starting to fall and a deepening line between the nose and the mouth all fall into this group.
If there is marked excess skin on the neck and under the chin, the lifting power of non-surgical methods stays limited. In that situation the option that meets expectations is a surgical facelift, and we say so openly at the consultation. Pushing a non-surgical treatment to get "a bit more" result can spoil a natural look.
How Does a HIFU Facelift Work?
HIFU stands for high-intensity focused ultrasound. Sound waves pass through the skin surface and create small points of heat at set depths. In the heated tissue, collagen fibres contract, and the body then produces new collagen as it repairs the area. The Doublo Gold device we use at our clinic can focus at different depths, down to the muscle and connective tissue layer that supports the face.
Treatment is a single session and takes 30-45 minutes depending on the area. Because the skin surface is not affected, there is no crusting or peeling, and you can go back to work the same day. The result does not appear all at once; it becomes clearer over the months as collagen forms, and reaches its fullest at around the third month. HIFU does not add volume. It will not fill a hollow cheek, but it firms up loosened tissue.
Which Kind of Sagging Suits a Thread Lift?
In a thread lift, dissolvable threads carrying small cones are placed under the skin under local anaesthetic. The cones hold the sagging tissue and carry it upwards, and the lift can be seen by the end of the procedure. The thread material, polylactic acid, also stimulates collagen production over time.
Where tissue has moved down from its place, this method gives a more direct lift than HIFU: a low brow, a dropped cheek and a loosening jawline are typical examples. The lift lasts 12-18 months on average. Because there may be swelling, bruising and tightness in the first days, recovery after a thread lift takes a little longer than after HIFU.
What Is a Liquid Facelift?
A liquid facelift is not the name of a single product or device. It is the general term for a plan that uses injections to restore lost volume in the face and improve declining skin quality. The plan is built around the individual and can include these parts:
- Hyaluronic acid filler: replaces lost support in the cheekbones, cheeks, temples and jawline; the result is visible straight away and lasts 6-18 months depending on the product.
- Skin quality injections: a skin booster targets hydration and radiance, and a collagen stimulator injection targets firmness and elasticity; they are given as several sessions two weeks apart.
- Botox: added to the plan when needed to soften expression lines.
The lifting effect of a liquid facelift is indirect. When the mid-face is supported, the lines under the eyes and at the corners of the mouth also soften and the face looks lifted. The volume side of the plan is usually made up of cheek, chin and under-eye fillers; when the aim is to stimulate the skin's own collagen production, collagen stimulator injections complete this support.
HIFU, Thread Lift and Liquid Facelift Compared
| Criterion | HIFU | Thread lift | Liquid facelift |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main effect | Tightening with heat | Mechanical lifting | Volume and skin quality support |
| Suits | Mild to moderate laxity | Tissue that has dropped, low brows | Volume loss, thinned skin |
| Sessions | One session | One procedure | Filler in one session; skin quality injections as a course |
| When results show | Over months, fullest at around 3 months | At the end of the procedure; clearer once swelling settles | Straight away with filler; over weeks with injections |
| Average duration | 1-1.5 years | 12-18 months | 6-18 months for filler, depending on the product |
| Back to daily life | Same day | A few days of possible swelling and bruising | Same day, with mild swelling |
Which Method Is Right for Me?
A rough road map can be drawn according to the cause of the sagging:
- If your face is not hollow but the tissue feels loose and the jawline has softened, HIFU comes to the fore.
- If your brow or cheek has clearly dropped, a thread lift gives a more direct lift.
- If your cheeks have flattened, your temples have hollowed and the tear trough has deepened, volume support is considered first.
- If your skin has become thinner, drier and has lost its glow, skin quality injections are added to the plan.
These pictures are often found together in one face. So rather than picking a single method, what matters is deciding which problem to address first.
Can These Methods Be Planned Together?
Yes, but not on the same day. We leave a gap between HIFU and fillers or Botox, because the heat must not affect a product that has only just settled. The order is usually set by the cause of the sagging: first firming up the tissue, then making up the volume loss that remains. Since the result of HIFU appears over months, deciding on volume support after seeing that result makes for a more measured plan.
During pregnancy, or when there is an active infection or a metal implant in the treatment area, skin tightening with Doublo Gold HIFU is not done or is postponed, and the plan is rebuilt around these conditions.
What Should a Non-Surgical Facelift Not Be Expected to Do?
These methods do not turn the clock back years; they soften sagging and make the face look more rested. The effect is temporary, because ageing continues. Sun protection, avoiding smoking and a stable weight also play a part in keeping the result. A plan that starts with realistic expectations protects both your satisfaction and a natural look.
Non-Surgical Facelift Assessment in Denizli
At the consultation we examine your face from the front and the side, standing and in motion. We look together at the degree of sagging, the thickness of the skin, where volume has been lost and what you expect, and then suggest the method or sequence that suits you. When we think a non-surgical method will not be enough, we tell you that too. For a consultation at our clinic in Denizli, call us to book an appointment.
